Are You Living Your Life or Your Parents Life?

Did you choose the life you are living or are you living your parents life because of the stories you have in your head.

Through working with clients over the years and my own journey, I've seen many people who didn't realize that the reason they couldn't achieve what they wanted in life, relationships or business was because of the thoughts in their head.

Take a look at your thinking, is the story you are telling yourself yours or are you re-living your parents life?

You don't come into the world with fears and doubts or expectations and entitlement issues, you learn them. From family, society, school and the world in general!

And, as you learn, not knowing any differently, what you see and hear as a child creates the story and you become an adult living life from that place.

Did you ever hear "don't' be so selfish" or why can't you be like little Jimmy, Jenny or whatever the name was at the time or maybe "money doesn't grow on trees" and maybe everything was very chaotic.

There are probably a myriad of different ways in which what you saw and heard as a child has affected your life. And, it's not even what you see and hear that counts, it's how you as a child perceive it.

When you are told "don't be selfish" the perception as a child is usually that you are not worthy. Not feeling worthy leads to lack of confidence and fear and going forward you don't put yourself at the top of the list because that would be "selfish."

You doubt your ability to achieve the success you want or to maintain a healthy loving relationship and you continue to live your life without the balance you deserve.

There are very few people that this doesn't apply to. When I was in private practice I saw a lot of A level celebrities who would come in with a completely different 'face' than the ones you might see on the screen.

They weren't all made up and smiling, they were working through the pain of not feeling they were worthy enough or able to maintain healthy relationships or fears that they would fail and usually a huge lack of confidence. Because of 'stuff' they had been carrying around in their head for years.

In changing your story you can change your life! Always believe in yourself no matter what anybody else tells you. Everyone in their own way is special but you are unique too, you are the only you so treat yourself with love, admiration and pride.
