So many people have things they would love to do before they draw their last breath in this world, such as "climb a mountain" or "go to Africa".
What is commonly referred to as the bucket list, and recently the title of a movie with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, is in my opinion, worthy of a few notes.
Perhaps some of the below list, whether some or all, should make its way into your own "bucket list".
1) Let go of everything you have ever done wrong in your life
Making mistakes is human nature and some people make small mistakes and some people make large ones. There really is no way to make up for your errors other than demonstrating that you have learned from them.
2) Let go of everything you have done right in your life
Resting on your laurels usually means you are ready to quit. Stay dynamic and constantly moving like the old saying "a rolling stone gathers no moss". Nowhere is this saying more applicable in today's fast shifting world.
3) Take a chance on something
Many people are so afraid of failure they refuse to try new things. Try a new food, a new business idea or even a new project.
Whatever you try the world today is so connected you may even be able to look at those that have gone down the path before you if you need inspiration or even better sail into unchartered territories. Wouldn't it be great if you knew you were the very first at something, anything?
When I was young there was a new street built in our neighbourhood and even though it was extremely steep I grabbed a skateboard and was the first to ever to skate down it. I was also the first to fall off. Either way it was a great experience.
4) Produce something of worth
Some people spend most of their lives consuming and very little producing. Some of the happiest people have produced something of worth in their lives. Surprisingly many people who can build, sing, paint or craft don't spend more time doing it.
Having seen many a business spring out of hobbies and again the old saying rings true ... "if you love what you do you will never work another day in your life".
5) Reopen your eyes, ears, mind and soul
You have two ears and one mouth and you should use them accordingly. Really listening to people is becoming a forgotten art and the wealth of information that passes by because people are simply waiting for their turn to speak is staggering. You should never stop learning.
All of the above is loosely based around the concept of positive psychology. If we spend more time engaging in activities that promote self worth we can possibly avoid many of the mental problems that seem to be on the rise in many societies around the world.
