7 Ways To Stay Motivated And Achieve Your Goals

Are you one of the many people with well intended goals but don't know where to start?

Are you staring at your list and postponing what you can do today for tomorrow?

The good news is it's never too late to start. Here are some tips to help you get moving.

CLARIFY YOUR GOALS AND PRIORITIES

After you have listed your goals in all areas of your life - business, personal and family, break them down into small daily attainable goals. Structure your day and build a schedule that echos your daily activities to your big picture goals.

It is advisable to make your daily schedule the night before so when morning comes you already know what your day should look like.

Without a list of things to do, you are bound to wander around like a chicken without a head! Start with the hardest thing such as exercise and save for last the least dreaded one.

START THE DAY WITH AN INTENT

An intent is what you want to be and do in all areas of life. For example you might want to become better at social media.

AFFIRMATIONS

These are positive statements that when repeated over and over can help you achieve your intentions. Affirmations are best said in the present tense. Say them aloud if you can.

BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND

Imagine what a sense of accomplishment you will have after you have achieved your goal. See yourself at the end of it all. Post a vision board where you can see it every day and then reward yourself for small signs of success, with a pedicure or whatever indulgence that makes you happy.

FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY

Step out of your comfort zone. If you have wanted to learn a new language or join a Zumba class but felt it was out of character, this is not the time to chicken out. You will find what a confidence booster it is to do something new.

JUST DO IT

Take baby steps. Achieving a long term goal is not a one day thing but that first step moves you closer to your goal. You don't need a new pair of sneakers to hit the gym or take a walk but you can reward yourself at the end the month with a pair after you hit your goal.

BE ACCOUNTABLE

It is easy to be accountable to others than to ourselves. Enlist a friend in your goals. Have them call you to check in on your progress. See how motivated you become when you have someone watching over your shoulders.

These are some of the tried and true tips that will help you stay on task and achieve any goal.
